It's been a while now since I stopped TTC and started trying to embrace my childless (childfree?) life. Mostly I do ok but then I watch or read or see something which punches me. Like this evening, channel-hopping mindlessly as I did some ironing (on a Friday night - I live it large, you better believe) and landed on "The New N0rmal". The "there's a heartbeat" episode - I ran away again quickly but the damage had been done. Bugger it.
I also can't stand the UK advert for Chr0meb00k - guess I'm not part of a "real family".
Bah.
*hugs* Illanare- Just like that post I did (humorous, sorta) of throwing away laptop because of facebook pregnancy or baby photos.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, it's hard to predict reactions- one moment, one is fine with seeing a pregnant woman, next moment, she says something that pierce our heart- so it's hard. Triggers, blast them.
Illanare- you *are* a real family, there's no law that you have to have a child to be a real family. You're much loved and appreciated.
If you want to talk (or lurk), I am Julie Wolfers on Facebook.
Bah indeed. There are days when things just get to us. You are not alone.
ReplyDeleteHug. So stupid. I hate this idea of "real family". Or a "real woman". We are all real! and we should know by now that families come in all forms, shapes and sizes. You are loved and appreciated as you are. I wish we could ban advertisers from pushing the heterosexual family crap.
ReplyDeleteSeriously??! They actually based an ad campaign on the idea of "real families"??! Someone clearly was not thinking. :p (((hugs)))
ReplyDeleteUgh - a family is however YOU define it. I've been told that Guv and I aren't "a family" purely because I've never squeezed a small human through my vagina! PUHLEASE!!!!
ReplyDeleteI hate those moments, where you're just happily going about things and BAM something reminds you, almost mocks you.
Hugs xxx
