memes

I'm sure that by now most of us are aware of a completely asinine meme doing the rounds on F@ceb00k where women falsely post that they are x number of weeks pregnant and craving something - to raise breast cancer awareness.  No further information or link to a charity or organisation goes with these status updates.  Forget the pain this particular meme causes infertile and babyloss parents - how does it raise awareness of cancer?

After deleting what must have been the 17th "update" a sort of red mist descended and I thought that I would start a new meme on my status update:
13weeks, 18weeks, 5 weeks:
http://www.october15th.com/
http://www.miscarriageassociation.org.uk/

Paige has a more beautiful idea.

Any thoughts?

  1. Love your idea and Paige's. I wish I had the courage to do that in October but I don't want others to know that much about my life. Cowardly of me, I suppose.

My status update on FB was "I am zero weeks and craving a better way to raise breast cancer awareness"

  3. I am good at ignoring memes. I fail to see how this one was supposed to raise awareness for breast cancer anyway.

  5. I am SO glad none of my friends have done that ridiculous meme.

    You should do that. Totally.

  6. I don't know what I'd do if anyone asked me to join that meme. But it wouldn't be nearly so classy as your idea.

  7. Thanks for the shout out. I like your idea as well esp with the link to the organization. I cannot wait for that stupid game to run it's course. Whoever started that one must be a real dumby. Hope you're doing well.

  8. That is an excellent response to this idiotic campaign. The whole thing still pisses me off.
